A Decade in Tech

My Professional Evolution from ERP Administrator to Project Manager and Scrum Master

As I reflect on 10 years in the IT industry, it’s amazing to see how much I’ve grown—both personally and professionally. I started this journey with a curiosity about technology and a passion for problem-solving, which has carried me through various roles, challenges, and milestones. The result? A career that has allowed me to evolve continuously, learning from each step and applying those learnings to lead projects and teams with confidence.

The Early Days: Building a Strong Technical Foundation

My professional career began as an ERP Administrator. This role was my introduction to managing critical systems, understanding complex workflows, and handling the needs of a dynamic enterprise environment. It laid the foundation for my interest in both technology and process optimization.

However, I wasn’t content to stay in one domain for long. I quickly developed an interest in mobile technology as the industry began to shift towards mobility-first solutions. I transitioned into hybrid mobile development, which allowed me to dive deep into front-end technologies. This period was pivotal—it was here that I started to develop a holistic understanding of how user-facing technologies must integrate seamlessly with back-end systems.

Expanding Horizons: DevSecOps, Cybersecurity, and Beyond

With a solid grounding in mobile development, I sought to expand my skill set. I ventured into DevSecOps, a growing field at the intersection of development, security, and operations. This was a natural fit, as I had always been passionate about cybersecurity, even before I formally started my career.

During this time, I also gained hands-on experience with web servers, networks, AWS, and mobile device management. Learning to navigate these areas helped me understand the bigger picture—how different technical domains come together to create a secure, scalable, and efficient ecosystem. This broader understanding would later prove invaluable as I transitioned into management roles, where overseeing diverse technical teams and ensuring seamless integration of different processes became crucial.

Stepping into Leadership: From Senior Associate to Project Manager

After several years of honing my technical expertise, I made the move into project management. This was a natural progression, as I had always enjoyed the strategic aspects of project planning and execution. As a Senior Associate and later as a Technical Lead, I had begun to take on leadership responsibilities, guiding teams through challenging projects and helping them navigate technical complexities.

Now, as a Project Manager and Scrum Master, I bring both my technical background and leadership skills to the table. With over 4-5 years of experience in managing both Fixed Price and Time and Material projects, I’ve learned the intricacies of budget management, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication. Whether it’s ensuring that a project is delivered on time and within scope or adapting to unforeseen challenges, I thrive in dynamic environments where quick thinking and collaboration are key.

The Role of a People Manager: Leading Teams to Success

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the opportunity to manage and mentor talented individuals. As a People Manager, I take pride in aligning tasks with individual strengths, ensuring that everyone on the team is positioned for success. It’s not just about meeting project deadlines—it’s about fostering an environment where team members feel empowered to grow, contribute ideas, and solve problems creatively.

Coordination with stakeholders is another critical part of my role. I believe that strong relationships and transparent communication are the pillars of successful project management. My ability to connect with different teams—be it development, QA, or client-side stakeholders—ensures that everyone is aligned with the project’s goals and timelines.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Project Management

As I look to the future, I’m excited about where the industry is heading. Agile methodologies, Scrum frameworks, and evolving tools are transforming how we approach project management. I’m constantly learning and adapting to new trends and technologies, keeping a keen eye on how they can help me better serve my teams and clients.

This decade has been an incredible learning experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry. From my beginnings as an ERP Administrator to my current role leading complex projects, each step has taught me valuable lessons. I look forward to continuing this journey, taking on new challenges, and helping others grow along the way.

Thank you for being part of my journey—here’s to many more years of learning, leading, and growing!
