Client: Internal PoC (Enterprise-scale framework)
Shared With: Stakeholders across multiple orgs as a thought leadership artifact
Role: Solution Strategist / Project Lead
Duration: 4 weeks (Sprint-based exploration & architecture proposal)
Domain: Data Engineering | Reporting | Business Intelligence | Integration Architecture
📌 Overview
This project was initiated as a technology exploration and architecture proposal for a scalable, real-time data injection and reporting ecosystem. It focused on integrating siloed enterprise systems and enabling reliable, near real-time business reporting with minimal manual effort.
🎯 Business Objective
To design a future-ready system that enables automated data ingestion, transformation, and dashboard-ready reporting with traceability, auditability, and modular scaling in mind.
🧠 My Approach
- Problem Framing: Identified challenges with existing batch-based reporting systems and siloed data lakes.
- Target State: Envisioned a modular architecture with:
- Real-time data injection (CDC/Event Streaming)
- Data lake storage with metadata tagging
- ETL pipelines (streaming & scheduled)
- BI Dashboard layer (Power BI / Tableau)
- Architecture Blueprint:
- Built diagrams showcasing layers (Source → Ingestion → Storage → Transform → BI)
- Mapped tool options (Kafka, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, DBT, Apache Nifi)
- Compared real-time vs scheduled injection approaches with pros/cons
- Governance & Observability:
- Addressed logging, versioning, error handling, and access controls
- Introduced monitoring layer via Grafana or native Azure tools
🔧 Tools & Frameworks Explored
- Data Platforms: Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, S3, Postgres
- Ingestion: Kafka, Apache Nifi, Azure Event Hubs
- Visualization: Power BI, Tableau
- Documentation: Lucidchart (architecture), Confluence (strategy write-up)
📈 Outcome
- Framework adopted as a baseline reference model by internal stakeholders for ongoing data platform revamps
- Presented in cross-org calls to showcase modular implementation strategies
- Recognized for clarity in architectural breakdown and business-aligned tech recommendations
